Feature Project: Altus Charter School - The Shops at Palm Desert

Davis & Adams Construction completed a 4,287-square-foot design-build renovation for Altus Charter School within the Shops at Palm Desert retail center. The $1.2 million project transformed an existing retail space into a modern educational facility designed to support student achievement, collaboration, and technology-driven learning.

The renovation included comprehensive interior improvements, advanced technology infrastructure, enhanced security systems, and flexible learning environments tailored to the needs of students and educators. As part of an active retail mall, the project required careful coordination to minimize impacts on neighboring tenants and visitors while maintaining safe and efficient construction operations throughout.

The finished facility provides students and staff with a secure, modern, and engaging campus that supports Altus Charter School’s mission of delivering innovative educational opportunities - and demonstrates the successful adaptive reuse of commercial retail space into a dynamic educational environment.
